Defied Life’s Challenges: Became an employee of the PNP

-

This week we will feature the life story of a Non-Uniformed Personnel who defied being a product of a broken family, poverty and hopelessness.

Join me as we look back on how he persevered and turn-around his life to become a man with direction. Despite being a product of a divided home he would grow-up to be a responsible father and founded a brotherhood that would help others become relevant members of the community.

NUP Marc Jaffar C. Seville hails from Bantayan Island, Cebu. This 47-year-old man could only shake his head recalling the life he had when he was younger. The youngest son among a brood of four. Sadly, one of his older brother died.

Born to parents Marcelo Lopez Seville and Rosita Clarito Salino, both of them are now dead. His father was a tailor while his mother was a merchant.

His parents went on separate ways when he was five years old. At a young age, his dream was to become a priest but wasn’t able to pursue it due to family issues and bad behavior in school and society.

In his teenage years, he joined plenty of youth clubs such as Bantayan Parish Coordinating Council, Singles for Christ, Bantayan Charismatic Movement among others. He also joined Socio Civic organizations such as Kaisahan ng Malayang Kabataan- Kamalayan and Kabaka- Kausa sa Bantayanong Kabatan-onan. He was an officer in both organizations that was supported by MSWDO Office of LGU Bantayan.

NUP Seville had a troubled youth filled with angst and anger. He was perceived to be a menace and due to his family background he was looked down by many.

But through it all, he was fully supported by both parents. His needs were met yet still insufficient to support his studies. Growing-up he used to pity himself, he was unable to comply school projects and activities which required money.

His troubled past stemmed from an unstable/broken home and no permanent residence. In order to hide fears and self-pity he resorted joining the local gangster. In June 20, 1991 he founded RHOKSINIAN Society. A fraternity/sorority which accepts members of all genders and all walks of life accommodating members without social bias or status.

According to NUP Seville his close friends are his co-founders of RHOKSINIAN Society, sadly two of his closest friends passed away. One from kidney complications and the other one from COVID-19.

He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Major in English in Bantayan Southern Institute in 2003. He is thankful to his Dean, Mrs. Thyzra Yap who gave him another chance and the rest is history.

He is blessed with his wife who complements and completed him, he is married to Mrs. Marites Mata Seville and they are gifted with three children.

Before he entered the PNP in 2015, he used to work as Liaison Officer to the Philippine Statistic Agency under the Civil Registrar’s Office of LGU Bantayan. He also worked as a job order employee of LGU Bantayan and a habal-habal driver

In 2014 he took the Civil Service Examination which paved the way for his employment in the PNP.

When he was accepted in the PNP, it used to be a challenge since he was the lone NUP at that time assigned in Madredijos Police Station. He singlehandedly complied all the E-projects and had to endure working overtime on weekends and holidays. There was a time that he was tempted to quit but by God’s grace he was able to withstood the hard days of being a Non-Uniformed Personnel. Until in 2019, another NUP was hired which eased his workload. Currently, there are four NUP assigned in Madredijos Police Station.

He firmly believes that everything happens for a reason. “If you found it hard to face the hardships of life, turn to God, ask for guidance and strength. He will not give you a problem you cannot withstand, after all if your burdens seem to be too heavy, He will surely carry for you. “

As a member of the PNP organization he considers it as an accomplishment because he is able to serve the Bantayanons at the same time it enables him to reach out to the community. He is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (TFOE-PE, INC) under the banner of CVR 5 Bantayan Island Elite Eagles Club.

In all his life challenges, he never lost hope. God has never failed him. To all those who have lost hope and beaten by the many obstacles life has brought you, look at NUP Marc Jaffar C. Seville! God has not given up on him. You could turn your life around!

May his life story inspire you, if you have lost your way don’t get discouraged, you can still straighten your life, it’s not too late! Mabuhi ka NUP March Jaffar C. Seville! Padayun sa imong maayong buhat!
