This week our featured police officer of the week is a young and refreshing character. She may still be starting in the police service but her story will inspire you, her energy is contagious and her smile will liven up your working environment. Join me as I narrate to you her life story.
Patrolwoman Mertchel May D Ohagan hails from Pinamungajan, Cebu. This jolly and lively girl belongs to a brood of three. She is the only girl and the eldest among her siblings. Patrolman Ohagan accepts that she loves the attention given to her by her family.
Her father worked in CEBECO 3 while her mother is a plain housewife. Their life was simple yet fulfilling. The young Patrolman Ohagan used to go with her grandmother to pray. She calls herself a “lola’s” girl. A typical provincial girl, she remembered when she was in elementary and high school she was involved in athletics and loves to dance.
In high school, she was active in sports through the track and field and volleyball. She participated in the long jump competition and volleyball tournaments during intramurals and district meet.
Patrolman Ohagan calls herself a self-proclaimed dancer, she joined programs participating in various school activities.
In spite of her busy school schedule she found the time to tutor young children for free. It is her passion to share her knowledge to her young neighbors.
During college, she was lucky that the company where her father worked helped them with their tuition through the issuance of cheque and the tuition was deducted through a discounted salary deduction.
She took up Bachelor of Science in Criminology at the University of the Visayas-Main Campus and graduated in 2016.
After obtaining her license in 2016 she applied in the PNP but failed during her first try, which made her decide to try her luck as a security guard in Shangrila Mactan.
After working for one year, she tried once again toapply in the PNP. On October 17,2018 she wasaccepted as a public servant.Five years and 3 months in service, PatrolmanOhagan is assigned in the Provincial Headquartersat the Provincial Community Affairs Division Unitand serves with joy and fire in her heart as theDRDIGS Focal and CIMAT Focal Person.
Patrolman Mertchel May D Ohagan is overflowingwith energy and determination that someday shewill be able to handle different assignments andaspects of policingPatrolman Ohagan multi-tasks as an emceeusherette, participates in dance groupsrepresenting the Cebu PPO and many more. Shejuggles different tasks with the right attitude.
May we all be inspired by Patrolman Mertchel MayD Ohagan’s energy and vibrant personality. She isa perfect example of “go lang nang go”, neverjaded and has the fire in her blood to tackle everyobstacle thrown her way.
