This week we will be featuring a police officer whose life when he was younger was a total opposite of who he is now. Join me as I tell you his life story. He used to be obstinate and wasn’t doing good in school because of his vices.
It came to a point that he devoted so much of his time on drinking, smoking and video games that he lost concentration on his studies. He felt the peer pressure from his so-called friends that all he wanted to do was please them and only wanted to belong.
Let us go through, and uncover how he changed and turned around his life to an inspiring police officer.
It’s true that when you are naughty and stubborn in your younger years, you will either graduate to become a notorious individual or take accountability and take control of your life.
This is the story of PSSg Othello Victor Oporto Largo, he grew up with his grandparents because his parents were both working and were often away from home. His mother is a retired nurse while his father a seaman.
Growing up he was mostly influenced by his grandparents, along with his two other brothers, together they were showered with love that only grandparents can. His grandpa was a retired police officer, the late PLTCOL JOSE T OPORTO. On the other hand, his grandmother was a nurse, they both greatly influenced his profession.
He fell to the vice of drinking, smoking, playing video games and was surrounded with barkadas. Before he became a full time nurse and police officer, PSSg Largo underwent a full realization that he has to take responsibility of his own life and take control.
In high school he went to five different schools because he was expelled due to this naughtiness and he was involved in a school brawl. But this experience taught him well, it dawned on him that if he doesn’t change his ways his life will go to waste.
This was his motivation when he went to college, he became wiser and disciplined. He studied, worked hard and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Cebu-Banilad in 2009. PSSg Largo is a certified registered nurse, who successfully hurdled the Nurses Licensure Examination on his first take.
According to PSSg Largo, barkada days are over and family is eternal. He entered into the police service on June 15, 2011.
An accomplished police officer, he was a member of the group that was declared over-all champion for the Regional Director’s Cup in 2016. He was classified also.as the champion in the Patrolman- PSSg Category during the Provincial Directors Cup Unity Shoot in May 2023.
PSSg Largo was also recognized as the Best PNCO of the Month in Cebu PPO. He also belonged to the 1st batch of PRO7 Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer Course.
He is inspired by his wife Mrs. Lucille Jra. Largo who is also a nurse at UP Manila and his son, Alexander Angelo.
Currently, PSSg Othello Victor Oporto Largo is assigned at the City of Talisay Police Station. He is a SWAT Operator and Team Leader.
