REWRITING HIS LIFE STORY AND STRUGGLES

-

This week I will be narrating the life story of NUP Edgar Tecson Diaz on how he charged on life and how he rewrote his poor beginnings, his struggles and finally his success on seeing his children overcome their poverty-stricken situation.

From a simple government employee, you will be in awe of how much he has achieved in his personal life and how he leaned on the power of the Almighty in the tests he encountered.

NUP Edgar Tecson Diaz came from Barangay Guinhalaran Silay City, Negros Occidental. He has 11 siblings which made things hard to live and survive.

He recalls that he helped his parents by selling “puto, bibingka and banana-q” to suffice for their needs. He also experienced salvaging reusable or recyclable materials from trash to make ends meet.

It was really a difficult life, juggling studies and making a living to help the family. Since he was second to the eldest, he took it upon himself to shoulder the responsibility of helping the family.

“In my high school years, we transferred to Bacolod, it was during this time that we experienced the most challenging times because my father left for Manila to find a job to feed and send all of my eleven siblings to school”.

The stumbling blocks that he encountered were only a preparation of what would come. For two years and six months his father worked in Manila. His family’s livelihood changed for the better, they then transferred back to Silay City, Negros Occidental.

During college, he only finished 1st year of Bachelor Science in Industrial Engineering in College of Negros Occidental College of Arts and Trade in 1982 but was unable to finish due to financial constraints. Instead, he scoured the schools that offered scholarships luckily he was able to find one that offered to send him to school. He was able to finish as Electronic Technician in Saint Andrew Manpower School in Parańaque.

His first job experience was working as an appliances technician in Makati in a shop owned by a friend of his father.

Growing up he dreamed of becoming a soldier because his grandfather was a policeman and his cousins are in the army. But his ambition could not be far, because he is employed in the PNP as an audio man and in-charge of the radios in the Technical Operations Center.

But before he was officially employed in the PNP he worked as an errand boy in COMMEL 7 from 2005- 2006. With the help of then PCOL RAEL L LOPEZ (Ret) he entered in the PNP with his skills and determination coupled with his faith in the Almighty.

In 2007, he officially became an employee of the PNP and has dedicated his attention to his profession. Every day he comes in early before anyone does, you can truly call him a devoted member of the PNP.

Today, NUP Edgar Tecson Diaz is an accomplished father to this four children, through his meager income he was able to send his children to school. His eldest and second child graduated with a degree Bachelor of Science in Information Technology while the third child graduated with a degree in Bachelor in Elementary Education. On the other hand, his fourth child in still in Grade 12.

According to Robert T. Kiyosako and I quote “It’s not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you and how many generations you keep it for”. This is true in the life of NUP Diaz.

His loving wife Rosalina, nurtures the needs of the family; she is a housewife but she manages their household well and an equal partner to his husband.

May all of us reflect on the life story of NUP Edgar Tecson Diaz, my respect to you, All glory to God!
