Barangay Duyan, Catmon, Cebu | In a strong demonstration of community partnership and commitment to child protection, the Catmon Municipal Police Station (MPS) conducted a Feeding Program and Information Drive on November 21, 2025, as part of the nationwide observance of National Children’s Month 2025 with the theme: “OSAEC–CSAEM Wakasan; Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”
The activity featured a combination of nourishment, learning, and advocacy as Catmon Police personnel engaged children, parents, and residents of the barangay. Participants received informative materials on the protection of women and children, covering key laws such as RA 8353 (Anti-Rape Law), RA 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act), and RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act). The team also led discussions on Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM), and Anti-Drug Abuse Prevention, emphasizing practical ways the community can help prevent these threats.
Awareness flyers were distributed to ensure that families remain guided and informed even beyond the event. Officers highlighted that vigilance and early reporting play crucial roles in protecting children from abuse and exploitation—both online and offline.
In a message shared during the event, Catmon Police stressed the importance of unity in safeguarding children’s rights: “As we celebrate Children’s Month 2025, we strengthen our commitment to ending OSAEC and CSAEM. Every child deserves to grow in a safe, nurturing, and abuse-free environment. ‘End OSAEC–CSAEM; Fight for the Safety and Rights of Every Child!’ — this is not just a theme but a call to action for everyone.”
The feeding program served as a reminder of the PNP’s dedication to uplifting the youth, reinforcing the belief that “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.” Nourishing, educating, and protecting children today, Catmon MPS noted, lays the foundation for a safer and more progressive community in the years ahead.
Catmon Police continues to strengthen its partnership with residents and local leaders, urging all community members to join the fight against child abuse and exploitation. The station encourages parents and guardians to stay vigilant, stay informed, and actively participate in efforts that ensure the welfare, safety, and rights of every child.
