Catmon, Cebu | December 22, 2025. In a proactive effort to fortify community safety and protect the next generation, personnel of the Catmon Municipal Police Station successfully conducted a Drug Symposium at around 1:00 PM at the Covered Court, Brgy. Duyan, Catmon, Cebu. The activity brought together youth and parents of the barangay, emphasizing that safeguarding the community is a shared responsibility anchored on informed families and empowered young people.
The symposium provided a clear and practical discussion on the dangers of illegal drugs, their adverse effects on health, education, and family life, and the legal consequences associated with drug involvement. Police speakers highlighted early prevention as the most effective shield against substance abuse, underscoring the critical role of parents in guidance and monitoring, and of youth in making responsible choices.
Beyond anti-drug education, the activity broadened its impact by integrating awareness sessions and preventive tips on pressing community concerns such as rape, bullying, and street crime. Participants were oriented on recognizing warning signs, practicing personal safety, reporting incidents promptly, and fostering a culture of vigilance and mutual care within the barangay. These discussions aimed to equip families with practical tools to prevent victimization and to strengthen trust between the community and law enforcement.
The Catmon Police reiterated its commitment to community-based policing, noting that sustainable peace and order are achieved when police, parents, and youth work in partnership. By investing in education and dialogue, the station continues to build a resilient community one that is informed, united, and proactive in preventing crime.
This initiative reflects the enduring mission of the Catmon MPS to protect lives, nurture responsible citizenship, and promote a safe environment where young people can thrive, free from drugs and violence.
