Catmon, Cebu | In steadfast support of the 33rd National Children’s Month Celebration, the Catmon Municipal Police Station (PNP), in collaboration with the Catmon LGU–MSWD, successfully held its culminating activity through the distribution of school supplies, food packs, and slippers to children in Barangay Flores and Barangay San Jose. The initiative reinforced the PNP’s unwavering commitment to nurturing, protecting, and empowering the youth, especially in far-flung communities where support is most needed.
Anchored on the national theme, “OSAEC–CSAEM Wakasan; Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”,the event underscored the urgent call to end Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM), forms of abuse that continue to pose serious risks to Filipino children in today’s digital environment.
Catmon PNP emphasized that child protection must go beyond awareness, requiring robust legal and institutional frameworks to eliminate digital exploitation. Officers highlighted the need to close legal gaps, strengthen accountability for offenders, and equip families and communities with preventive knowledge to safeguard children’s online activities.
The distribution of school supplies and slippers aimed to encourage learning and motivate students to pursue their education, while the food packs provided immediate nourishment to support children’s health and well-being. These efforts reflected the PNP’s holistic approach to child protection, recognizing that a child’s safety, education, and good health collectively contribute to their growth and future success.
The PNP further stressed that these initiatives are part of a broader, continuous mission to ensure that children thrive in safe, nurturing, and abuse-free environments. Officers reiterated that protecting children is a shared responsibility among the police, local government units, parents, educators, and community members.
As the National Children’s Month celebration concludes, Catmon PNP reaffirms its deep commitment to championing the rights, safety, and welfare of every child. Standing united under the advocacy “OSAEC–CSAEM Wakasan; Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, the station remains a steadfast partner in building a community where every child is secure, valued, and given the opportunity to dream and succeed.
